Recommended Tire Chains for a 2015 Toyota Sienna With 235/55 R18 Tires
Published 02/01/2017 >
Question:
Hello, Im trying to determine whether the KONIG XG12 Pro 245 chains will fit a 2015 Toyota Sienna 235/55 R18 Tires. I know that the chain will fit the tire, but I am wondering about clearance within the wheel well. On some website it shows that it does fit, but etrailer does not list it as fitting. Any help is sincerely appreciated.

The Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH01594245 that you referenced will be okay to use on your 2015 Toyota Sienna with the 235/55R18 size tires. These chains are made of a manganese nickel alloy steel construction which is corrosion resistant, and they feature anti-scratch nylon bumpers to help protect your rims. Keep in mind that your owners manual states that tire chains should be used on the front tires only.
The reason why we do not have these chains listed in our fit guide for your Sienna is because in the owner's manual says to use SAE Class S tire chains. Class S chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. In order to be considered a Class S chain, the chains must require less than 15 mm clearance between the inside of the tire and the vehicle. Since the Konig Chains # TH01594245 only require 12 mm of internal clearance, they fall into that S Class category by industry standards. While these chains do comply with Class S standards for the auto industry, Konig does not rate these tire chains as S Class compatible because the chain wraps around the inside of the tire. Since the manufacturer doesn't list them as Class S, we do not designate them this way either.
I have included a picture from one of our helpful articles that demonstrates what I am talking about.
