Recommended Hitch and Towing Package for 2012 Jeep Liberty to Transport Little Guy Trailer
Question:
Little Guy Trailer specifies the need of a 7 Way Electrical Connection. What Parts are needed for a complete new install vehicle has no current hitch I think I will need: - 2inch receiver hitch, - 7 way electrical connection kit, - 7 way electrical plug receiver, - ball mount shank w/ 2inch ball that will give a 2012 Jeep Jet Liberty 4x4 a 16inch off the ground connection to the trailer I want to make sure that I get it all right... Thanks

Great news! I can help outfit your 2012 Jeep Liberty to be able to tow your Little Guy Trailer.
First let's start with a trailer hitch for your vehicle. I recommend the Class III Draw-Tite Max Frame # 75578. I have linked an installation video on a similar model to yours for you to check out, the two vehicles are from the same generation so they should look exactly the same.
Next, it sounds like your vehicle did not come with the factory 7-way so you will need to install a 4-way like # 118554 and then a 4-way to 7-way adapter like # ETBC7. If your Little Guy was equipped with electric brakes you will need to install the complete 7-way connection and a brake controller to control these brakes. I like how easy to install the Tekonsha P2 # 90885 is. I attached a video of this being installed just with a different brake controller but the connections will all be the same.
If your trailer isn't equipped with brakes you can just ground the # ETBC7 and run the 12 volt hot lead through the 40 amp circuit breaker and cap off and secure the other connections not needed under the frame of your vehicle. See attached diagram.
We know that the top of the receiver of the hitch # 75578 is 19-1/2 inches from the ground when installed on the 2012 Liberty, so a great ball mount and ball for your Little Guy to the desired 16 inch height you will want the Curt Fusion # C45154 which includes the 2 inch ball premounted as well as the pin and clip. To lock this ball mount to the hitch I recommend the # e98880.
I have linked all the above mentioned products and some installation videos and Help Articles to this page for your convenience.
