Your 2007 Nissan Xterra is capable of using a weight distribution system. To determine which system is best for you, we'll need to find a system that can handle the loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer plus the weight of anything you have loaded in the Xterra behind the rear axle. Based on your vehicle's carrying capacity, the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37060ET could be a great system for you. It has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs. which is most likely where you will land with your Xterra.
However, if you are pushing your Xterra to it's maximum tongue weight you may need a system that has a higher rating, such as the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0800. That will give you a maximum tongue weight of 800 lbs. This system does not come with a hitch ball so you will need to purchase one separately, # SC23-C is a 2 inch hitch ball with 1 inch diameter by 2-1/8 inch long shank.
I've attached review videos for each weight distribution system and a Help Article titled "Common Weight Distribution and Sway Control Questions" which could be helpful for you.
