How to Run the Black Power Wire of the Hopkins Wire Adapter # 37185

Question:

purple wire is back up lites black wire is power to rv to charge battery on rv. should black wire be wired to power only when key is on? i know lback wire on the brake controller is always powered

For the black, power wire of the Hopkins Wiring Adapter # 37185 you will want to run it through a 40 amp circuit breaker to the positive side of the battery on your 2000 Chevy Silverado. For a circuit breaker you could get a Pollak Circuit Breaker # PK54540. This circuit will be hot all of the time regardless if the key of your vehicle is on, but as long as theres nothing on this circuit drawing amperage it would not drain the battery.
