Recommendation for Reese Fifth Wheel Install Kit on a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab Long Bed
Question:
Starting installation of rails # 50062 a couple of small test holes do not seem to arrive at the right place for the frame brackets. There also seems to be a disparity in the access holes for the fluted bolts to be placed, especially front for station one and two. Is there recommendations for different brackets? To install a Reese 16K fifth wheel hitch in your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega Cab Long Bed I would recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, part # RP50140-58. This custom installation kit uses mounting brackets that will mount to existing holes in your vehicles frame and install in half the time of a universal installation kit. This kit will include the # RP50140 mounting brackets and the # RP58058 base rails. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the # RP50140-58 installation kit.
The Reese # 50062 installation kit that you have referenced is no longer available, but it did use the same base rails (# RP58058) that I have mentioned above. If you already have the same # RP58058 base rails and hardware, you can just order the Reese Custom Bracket Kit, part # RP50140.
If you need a wiring harness to add a 7-Way to the bed of your truck, I recommend the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Plug # HM42137. This harness will plug into your vehicle and give you an additional 7-Way in the truck bed.
