Trunk-Mount Bike Rack Fits for 2015 Audi Q5 SUV with Powered Rear Hatch

Question:

I wanted to use a Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 Bike Carrier for my 2015 Audi Q5 SUV... It has POWER tailgate. Do I have to force the hatch to stop from closing all the way the side and bottom hooks wont fit when closed since I cant seem to disable the power function. Any suggestions? Thanks :

The Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 trunk-mount bike rack # HRF2 is not a confirmed fit for your new 2015 Audi Q5. But I can offer you a better option for your new car!

Since you have a brand new vehicle I suggest you instead go the route of the hitch-mount bike rack. This offers you several advantages. First, the weight of the rack and bikes will not be borne by the car's shiny new sheet metal, but instead by its frame - its strongest part. This way your paint finish will be untouched by the rack. Second, a trailer hitch allows you the option to tow (within the specified limits for the Q5 as noted in your owner's manual). Third, a hitch means you can also use other hitch-mount accessories like a cargo carrier for instance.

We offer three options in a 2-inch Class III hitch that can be seen on the provided link. The Curt hitch # C13136 is the most cost-effective option but does require you to use a strap # 18050 to help support a bike rack.

With a hitch in place you can use any compatible Class III bike rack. The link shown will let you see all options in both hanging-style and platform-style racks that include locks for the rack itself and for your loaded bikes.

If you only need to transport 2 bikes a great choice is the Thule EasyFold 2 Bike Rack # TH903202. This rack is lightweight, easy to use and includes a host of great features that are detailed in the linked video. For a 4-bike rack consider the Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 which swings out of the way of your rear hatch - even when loaded with bikes! A video on this rack is linked as well.

Either of these excellent racks will avoid any interference issues with your powered hatch.
