Today, on this 2011 Honda Fit, we'll be installing the SMI Stay-IN-Play Duo Supplemental Braking System, part number SM99251. This is an automatic proportional brake system that never has to be removed once installed. To use it, you turn on your towing vehicle or RV, and then turn on the SMI system. When you step on the brake in your RV it will activate the brakes in your towed vehicle. We're going to first begin here by raising up the hood of our vehicle. You may notice this vehicle is already had a breaking system installed at one time, so you may that there's a few items that we'll actually be replacing and installing the new SMI parts. In order to begin and gain access to the wiring that's already installed on this vehicle, we're going to need to remove these push fasteners up here that hold the top cover in so that we can get access down and behind the grill. Now, in order to remove those, we're going to use a flat head screwdriver, or a trim panel removal tool. We'll simply slide underneath the edge here in the middle, and then work the center of the fastener out so it comes up like that. Go ahead and remove all these fasteners in the same way.

We are going to have to modify the bracket. We'll go ahead and remove the bolt and see what we need to drill it out to. There's a shoulder on the bolt here so we'll go ahead and drill out to match that. To match your bolt we're using a drill bit of 13/32.
