Video Transcript for Review of Kodiak Trailer Brakes - Stainless Steel Rotor - KR13858S

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Kodiak 13-inch stainless steel rotor, has the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern and it's for 7,200 pound to 8,000 pound axles. Now this is a slip-on over-the-hub rotor, makes it very easy to convert your idler axle to disc brake axle. Basically it'll fit over the standard idler hub and it's held in place by the wheel lug nuts. And these holes on here for the studs to go through are a 5/8 inch diameter. There's no need to replace your entire hub and rotor assembly if only your hub or rotor becomes damaged, you can just slide this off and replace it with a new one.

This does use the vented design, you can see here, that'll effectively dissipate heat, prevents any heat-related damage to the rotor. And this one is a nice unique stainless steel construction. It's very durable, rustproof. So this one is ideal for extended marine use. It does meet a 1000-hour salt spray rating.

A few specs on this, again, it fits an axle capacity from 7,200 pound up to 8,000 pound axles. The wheel size that'll fit over this is 16 inches or larger, bolt pattern we had mentioned is 8 on 6 1/2 inches. Diameter of the rotor is 13 inches. And as we mentioned, the bolt hole diameter right here is 5/8 of an inch. But that should do it for the review on this Kodiak 13-inch stainless steel rotor, 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern, for the 7,200 pound to 8,000 pound axles..

Recommended Item for Boat trailers saltwater environments!!!

by:

I use this boat trailer exclusively in the ocean, and after one year these stainless steel brake components are performing beautifully. I replaced everything down to the spindle, and the before photo shows what seawater does to inferior components. Expensive but more than worth it in safety and performance.

by:

Fantastic company, super quick delivery and exactly what I was looking for at a great value

by:

So it's been a year now, and I love it! With saltwater boating, there's already enough things to worry about breaking, so it's nice to have the peace-of-mind of knowing that I don't have to worry about my corroding brake parts. Sure, it's expensive, but after replacing a few rotors, the break-even point is quickly realized. After one year, they still work well and look great.

by:

The stainless steel rotors and stainless steel brake pads were delivered on time and in good condition. Installation went smoothly and the brakes are working well. The trailer will be dunked in saltwater regularly so stainless steel should not rust like the previous pads. The old pads still had plenty of wear left but they rusted and the pads separated from the backing plate. The outside pads fell completely out of the caliper. If given the opportunity will provide an update after some use.

by:

Should have bought these this first time! I bought Kodiak dacromet coated rotors three years ago and had to replace them due to corrosion. Rotors calipers and pads are immersed in salt water weekly and even though I always wash everything to flush salts off rotors and pads still fell apart. However SS calipers are spotless with no rust so I finally broke down and spent the extra money on SS all the way

by:

After 1 season with 1 axle stst rotors and 2 axles regular steel
You can clearly see the stst rotors are still in good shape and the steel rotors will need to be replaced soon
I will be replacing them with stst

by:

The shipping is fast and the communication is excellent.

by:

Parts were in perfect condition and packing box looked like barely touched ( no damage) Thanks for the great service!! Aloha from Oahu hawaii!!
