Hey, how's it going Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT 5-pole to 5-pole tester. So, one of the things that people run into with trailers in general is trying to figure out where they're having issues. A tester like this is gonna allow you to determine if the issue is on the trailer side or the vehicle. So, let's take a closer look at it and see what it does for us. Today, we're gonna plug it into a battery box with a 7-pole adapter, but this is the same as plugging in into the back of your truck. Now, on the top of your cap, you can leave this inline, so you can actually cover this off and leave it on your truck if you want to just for a signal indication, or you can, you know, take it and keep it in your glove box. more

This guy's gonna be a all-in-one multi-function tool that's gonna allow you to strip wires and make connections, so let's take a look at it and see what it does for us. So, this guy's gonna give you a lot of different functions all in one tool. You're gonna have pliers right here at the top, you're gonna have your strippers right here, as well as your anvil and blade for your bolt cutters that's gonna help cut those connections that you have if you ever need to cut 'em loose. You also have all your different crimps that you're gonna have there for insulated, non-insulated, and even your coax cable if you're still running coax. This guy's gonna work between 10 and 22-gauge wires as far as the thickness, so let's check them out and see what they can do for us. All right, and this is 10-gauge wire right here. So we're gonna go ahead and just give that a snip, and you can see that it goes right through, even going through these sticker copper. I'm gonna go ahead and rotate, get it another snip, and that's a pretty clean cut, as far as getting through the elements in the middle of our wire. So, folks, if you're not an electrician by trade and you want something simple, you can use real quick to do some basic trailer wire circuit testing, this would be a good little guy for you. It's got a nice, pointy, sharp prick point there, and the alligator clip here, a nice length of wire, and, of course, the LED light. So what you're doing is you're grounding with this alligator clip and then you're touching your circuits, pricking the wire, potentially poking through the wire, and seeing if the red light here lights up, showing you if the circuit is working or not. more

Today we're gonna be checking out the CURT seven-way tester and this will allow you to check the lighting functions on your vehicle's seven-way trailer connector. This is gonna be a bladed style and work with just about all the different types of trucks and motor homes and RVs that have this style of plug. The way this is gonna work is super simple and it's gonna check all the different types of functions. So we'll have our brake controller if your vehicle's equipped with one, the backup or reverse lights, you have your right turn signal, your taillights, your left turn signal, your 12 volt auxiliary power, and then how trailer wiring is set up, whenever you hit your brakes, you should get the right turn and left turn to illuminate as well, 'cause the stop and turn's kind of integrated in one, if that makes sense. But really not a whole lot to it. more

To give you an idea of how your circuit tester works, it has LEDs in here that'll light up when both power and ground is present. You'll have to clip your probe onto either power or ground. What to Know About the Solder with Storage Tube- Video
Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at a 10 foot roll of rosin core lead free solder in the storage tube. Now, this is a lead free rosin core solder, it's 99.3% tin, 0.7% copper. And the size on this is a .031 rosin core solder for any application. Now, rosin core solder contains a mild flux in the center of the wire and it's designed to solder parts where flux residue cannot be removed. You can see this as a 10 foot roll inside this nice storage tube, and then you just take out how much you need. more

This can serve as three different tools, including an anvil cutter, a wire cutter and a box cutter. It does have heat treated carbon steel blades here that are going to be very strong and durable, very sharp, so they'll be able to cut through plastic, linoleum, shrubs, thick leather, all types of hoses, so a great option whether you're gardening or working around a shop and that anvil cutter is going to do a good job for you.It also has this titanium coated wire cutter that's going to allow you to trim a seven millimeter diameter copper, aluminum or soft steel wire, and will cut up to a four millimeter diameter nail.Personally, I don't think that's necessarily a high quality feature of this cutting tool. When I try and cut this wire here you can see it does cut partway through it, but it doesn't give a clean finish. more

So it gives you a really easy readout of any of your metrics so that you can see what's going on, make sure that your wiring is working properly. Today, we're going to take a look at the Deka Cable Cutter. Now this tool will allow you to cut cables, and it is designed to work for cables up to four aught gauge size. Just to give you a size on this, the overall length of it from one end to the other, is right about nine and a half inches long. But then again, just want to show you, we're going to zoom in just so you can see the cutter blades on it. Complete Breakdown of the Deka Hammer Crimper- Video
Today we're going to take a look at the Deka hammer crimp tool. Now this tool allows you to crimp connectors by using a hammer or a vice as force. Basically what you'll do is just open this crimper, put your terminal or splice into the base area, release the crimper, and then actually strike this ram with a hammer until the cable is secure. If you notice it does have this locking lever right here on the back that makes it for easy loading. You can just pull up on it and swing it to the right or the left, and it'll hold that ram in the up position while you put your terminal or splice into the base.
