Review of Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring RM-152-LED

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Roadmaster Taillight Wiring Kit for towed vehicles. Now this taillight kit gives you brake, running and turn signal lights for your towed vehicle without tapping into its wiring system. It bypasses the towed vehicle's electrical system completely so the wiring will actually be routed underneath the vehicle and held up and out of the way with the included cable ties. And the benefit of having it bypassing the vehicle's electrical system is that it really eliminates concerns of violating the vehicle manufacturers warranty. Now these are LED lights. They last longer, burn brighter and activate faster when compared to incandescent lights. The LEDs are red diodes and LEDs generate little heat so there's no risk of melting the lenses as long as you have adequate clearance in the taillight housing assembly. You'll notice that it features the independent bulbs and sockets.

They mount inside your taillights. They take up less space in the taillights when compared to incandescent bulbs and they do require a one inch diameter hole drilled in the taillight housing for the installation. It comes with what you need for the installations so you're going to get necessary wiring, two bulbs and sockets, zip ties. It does come with detailed installation instructions. Also comes with some wire loom to protect your wiring and it comes with the necessary connectors, ring terminal and a grounding screw. Now the plug and extension loop for hooking up to the RV, those items are not included and if you're in need of those you can find them at etrailer.com.

This kit is made in the USA. Wiring harness length is 27 feet long. Light output per bulb is 450 lumens. Overall length of the bulb is two and a half inches and the length of the bulb from the flange to the top of the bulb is two inches. So you want to make sure you have enough clearance in the taillight assembly for these to work.

The wire loom is three feet long and it has a half inch diameter. Now please note that each taillight housing on the towed vehicle, again, must have enough room for an extra bulb and socket. I want to hook this up to power that we can see what it looks like with power running to it. Black wire on this application is for our ground, brown is for the taillight function and then red would be for our stop and turn. So it sends out a very bright, consistent signal. Make sure I have them all connected correctly and we're going to go and turn off our overhead light so you can see it in a lower light setting.

This would be the taillights, brakes, and turn signal. That's going to do it for today's look at the Roadmaster Taillight Wiring Kit for towed vehicles.
