Question:
Hi Guys, I want to tow my 97 Nissan two wheel drive pick up. Will the 63180 work for this purpose or is the RM020 a better choice? How do I install the base plate to the truck? Do I need a specially fabricated bracket, or will the components in the kit suffice? Thank you,

For your 1997 Nissan Pickup you would need a base plate kit, tow bar, lighting and safety cables to tow your pickup. We have Roadmaster Base Plates part # 317-2 for your vehicle which are custom base plate brackets that attach to your Nissan pickup's frame to provide fixed attachment points for your tow bar. You will not need any other parts or fabrication to install the base plates.
For a tow bar you can use the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar, part # RM-020, which you reference. Part # 63180 is not a fit for your vehicle.
For tow lights I recommend RoadMaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights, part # RM-2120. These lights allow you to legally tow your car without having to tap into its wiring.
You will also need safety cables. Roadmaster offers a coiled set, part # RM-643. Coiled cables are your best bet, because they are less likely to become tangled or drag.
Complete instructions are provided with all products for ease of installation. I have also included a basic overview of flat towing your vehicle at right as well as FAQ articles about Roadmaster base plates and tow bars.
