Best Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 towing a 10k Trailer

Question:

I have used air springs 5000lbs on my last 3/4 truck and with a 10000 lb trailer I would need to put 50psi in the air spring to lift to level. Will the sumo springs level the truck?

The SumoSprings part # SSR-207-47 would help your 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 sit level when towing, but I have a better solution for you that is better set up for heavy trailers than suspension enhancement and I can guarantee will level your trailer.

Weight distribution systems are a better system for a vehicle towing a heavy trailer as they will distribute the tongue weight of the trailer to the front axle of the tow vehicle instead of somewhat unloading the front axle like suspension enhancement can do since it will act as a fulcrum point.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well.

Typically tongue weight is 10-15 percent of the total trailer weight, since your trailer weighs 10,000 lbs most likely you will have a tongue weight of 1,000 to 1,500 lbs. Because of that a system like the Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control # RP66130 would be great since it has a tongue weight range of 1,000 to 1,500 lbs. This system also features the only style of sway control that actively works to prevent sway before it starts.
