I have included a link to the installation instructions forRoadmaster base plates # 2104-1 for your 2000 Kia Sportage.
I don't know if you already have all of the other parts to flat tow or not so I will be happy to make some recommendations. For a compatible tow bar I recommend the Sterling, # RM-576. It has 8,000 pounds capacity and comes with safety cables.
For lighting a simple magnetic kit # RM-2120 would be the way I would go. They are easy to install and use and they bypass the vehicle wiring.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system # SM99251. It will apply the Sportage brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Be sure to consult your Sportage owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
