Elements Included in Factory Tow Package for 2010 Hyundai Veracruz

Updated 10/16/2014 | Published 10/08/2014

Question:

I own the 2010 veracruz and purchased it without the receiver. I Plan to install the 2inch draw-tite receiver but not sure if the 3500 lb towing capacity applies to all veracruz vehicles or those purchased with a towing package. I am not sure if the hitch option included specific tranny and oil coolers. Can you help. Model is limited AWD. Thank you

The best way to determine with certainty how your Veracruz was equipped from the factory would be to contact your Hyundai dealer. If you provide them with your VIN, they should be able to provide you with the information you need.

My research indicates that the towing capacity of the Veracruz is 3500 lbs "When Properly Equipped". For some vehicles this means simply adding a hitch and a trailer wiring harness. Other vehicles might require a transmission cooler, oil coolers, power steering cooler, suspension upgrades, gearing changes, etc. Once again, your dealer should be able to shed some light on that for you.

In addition to the Draw-Tite # 75532, you'll also need the following equipment to complete you towing set-up:

Trailer wiring harness, part # C56332
Ball mount, part # D-4
Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3
2 inch hitch ball, part # 63845
1-7/8 inch hitch ball, part # 19260

If you should need a transmission cooler, you'll need to check the area in front of your radiator, behind the grille. This is the most efficient spot to mount a cooler, so you'll need to measure the area to see how much room you have. Then, order the largest cooler that will fit in that spot, unless you live in a very cold climate. The Derale # D13502 would be a good choice if you have the available space.
