Which Trailer Connector is Necessary for Towing Small Trailer with 2006 Kia Sportage
Updated 02/22/2010 | Published 02/21/2010 >
Question:
Can you explain to me what is meant by 4,5,6 and 7 pole adapters. My only intention with having a 2 hitch is to buy a small 4 or 5ft trailer so I can take debris to a landfill occasionally or pick up some larger items from lowes or home depot. Any help would be appreciated.

The four, five, six and seven pole adapters refer to the trailer connector that supplies power to the trailer for the lighting circuits. A small utility trailer such as the one you are wanting to purchase would use a 4-pole connector like the one supplied on the end of the wiring harness for your Sportage, part # 33925. Different adapters are offered so that the 4-pole connector can be used with trailers that utilize different connectors.
