Also when I have the programmer installed and all set up and then one day decide I am goi g to remove the unit, will my truck automatically return to stock settings and programs? Or once installed it must remain in the truck?

When using a programmer such as the Edge tuner # EP59YR there are specific octane levels needed depending on which setting you are using. The higher performance settings require higher octane. Using the wrong octane will not damage the tuner but will affect how the truck runs in a given tune.
Programmers have the ability to return the truck to stock which is what you would do if you wanted to remove the tuner or if you were taking the truck in for service at a dealer. I have linked our help article on programmers for you to the right.
