Question:

If the RP54977 might not fit in the 2011 Ford F250 2 1/2inch receiver is there a 2inch shank option that would be equivalent which I could use with the Ford reducer sleeve. Im currently using the RP63971 shank. I need to move the hitch ball 1inch higher and cant do it because Im already in the top holes of the RP63971. Id like to have a shank that extends out about the same length as the RP63971 and allows me to raise the ball 1.

So the shank that you are using now, # RP63971, can only be used in the drop position which is why you need a new one. If it could be used in the rise position too it would not be a problem. So we need to look at shanks that can be sued in both the rise and drop position.

Shank # RP54998 is 12-1/4 inches long. When used with a trunnion bar system it has a max rise of 8-5/8 inches and max drop of 2 inches. For round bar systems the max rise/drop is 7-3/8 and 2-3/4 respectively. Rise and drop is measured from the top of the hitch receiver opening to the base of the head where the ball sits.

Shank # RP3214 is 16 inches long overall and with a round-bar system rise is 5-3/4 inches and drop is 2-1/4 inches.

And on a trunnion-bar system the rise is 7 inches and drop is 1-1/4 inches from top of hitch receiver tube opening.

The adjustments for rise or drop for either shank is 1-1/4 inch increments.
