Question:

Hello, I am buying an RV and they are giving me their RoadMaster Sterling All Terrain Tow Bar. I have a 2026 Ram 1500 Longhorn 4x4. Will this base plate be what I need to be able to attach to the bar? Also, what else would I need? Thank you much for your help.

It sure will Daniel and congrats on your new purchase. The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit item # RM86DQ is exactly what you need for your 2026 Ram 1500 Longhorn. It is also compatible with the Sterling Tow Bar item # RM-576 and will connect directly to it.

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267

Supplemental Braking System - SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 or the Air Force One item # DM26VR if your new motorhome has air brakes.

thank you. It is a 2018 Thor Miramar 37.1 (Gas Unit). No airbrakes. Do I need lights or the above items will work my brake lights and signals on the truck? Also for the braking systems, that one is recommended over the portable unit? Thank you

@DanielT That's a nice setup! The Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267 is going to allow your RV through the 7-Way cable to operate/control the lighting functions on your Ram 1500. It comes with everything you need to get it installed. I linked an installation video below that'll show you the entire process. The SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System item # SM99251 is the correct one for a gas motorhome with standard brakes. If you plan on hanging onto your 2026 Ram for a few years, I recommend going with a permanently installed system because it's easier to use once you get it installed. You just flip a switch and it's ready to go. If you prefer the portable option then I highly recommend the Blue Ox Patriot item # BLU37TR. It outperforms the other options and it is extremely reliable. You'll also need the 12 Volt Outlet Kit item # RM-9332 to power it.
