Question:
I have a 2026 Maverick Hybrid FWD. I also have a Blue Ox BX4370 tow bar with all the parts necessary to hook up a TOAD. I have been investigating, and this is what I believe I need: 1. Base plate 2. Braking System Active/Continuous Electronic Brake Booster: The Maverick Hybrid features an active electronic power-assist braking system. Recommended Systems: Permanent or semi-permanent systems specifically rated for active brakes hybrid vehicles. Gas Motorhomes: Systems like the Demco Stay-In-Play Duo or Roadmaster InvisiBrake with proper vacuum/pressure reduction setup. What other parts do I need to complete the install? Thank you

Hey Joseph, welcome back! Since you already have the Blue Ox Ascent Tow Bar BX4370, I'm assuming you have the safety cables that came with it as well. You'll still need a base plate kit, wiring, supplemental braking system, and potentially a high-low adapter to keep your tow bar level. For your 2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid FWD, I recommend the following:
-Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BLU94ER
-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit # RM-15267
-Roadmaster Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25
-Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM87GR
-Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR (permanent installation)
-Blue Ox Patriot Supplemental Braking System # BLU37TR (portable option)
The Stay-IN-Play DUO and Patriot are the two braking systems I recommend. You'll only need one, depending on whether you prefer a permanent installation or a portable system you can move between vehicles. Both are great options for your Maverick Hybrid's active braking system.
You'll also want to check the height difference between the base plate attachment points and your motorhome's receiver. The Blue Ox base plate kit sits at 15", so you need to measure from the ground to the center of the motorhome receiver and find the difference. If they're more than 3" apart, you'll need a high-low adapter like # e52ZV to stay level.
Where are you headed next once you get everything set up?

You will also need a Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Part Number RM87GR. This is what actually makes the brake lights light up on the Maverick.
