Question:
Curt C15302. 2008 Silverado 2500HD, short bed crew cab, 6.6L Duramax. My OEM receive is 2.5 class V. The Curt C15302 is only 2. On my original receive there is 2 bolts that are above the receive tube and bult to the bumper support. These are d with the Curt C15302? Is that a problem?

No it is not a problem Mark. The Curt Hitch item # C15302 is built stronger than the factory hitch so it doesn't need to attach to your Silverado's bumper. This hitch is also designed to work on Chevy trucks that came with or without a factory hitch and the trucks without didn't all have the holes in the bottom of the bumper.
The Curt Hitch item # C15302 is custom fit for your 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with the shorter 6-1/2' bed. It is a class V hitch with a 16,000 lbs towing capacity and a 2" receiver. All hardware necessary to complete the installation is included.
You can see the difference in the the GM factory hitch and the Curt item # C15302 in the pictures I attached below. The Curt is significantly larger and will mount directly below your factory bumper once the installation is complete.
If your factory 7-way mounting bracket needs to be replaced, I recommend the No-Drill Bracket item # C57202 and the Mounting Bracket for 7-Way Connector Plug item # C67UR. The band clamp will attach the bracket and your 7-way connector to the crosstube of the Curt Hitch item # C15302 without drilling.

My factory hitch has a 2.5” receiver but the curt 15302 only has a 2” hitch. Any reason for this? I’d rather have the 2.5” receiver as my hitches are 2.5”.
