Mounting MORryde RV Generator Slide Out Tray in Truck Bed
Updated 10/23/2026 | Published 10/19/2026 >
Question:
Hi, I dont have room in the cargo bay of my travel trailer so I want to install this in the bed of my F250, in the right corner by the tailgate. Would that work okay or should I look at installing a full bed slide? Thanks.

Thanks for letting us help Jackie. While there's technically nothing preventing you from installing the MORryde RV Generator Slide-Out Tray # MR89RR in the bed of your truck, my biggest concern would be how well it holds up to exposure to the weather. The main tray is constructed of black powder-coated steel, which provides some protection against rust and corrosion. However, I'm not as confident about how the slide mechanisms, bearings, and other moving components would hold up to repeated exposure to rain, moisture, and road debris. Since this tray is primarily designed to be installed inside an RV storage compartment, those components would normally be much better protected from the elements.
If you're planning to install the tray in an uncovered truck bed, I'd lean toward finding an alternative that's specifically designed for outdoor use. If you can let me know the year, make, and model of your truck, I'd be happy to see what other options we carry that might work better for your application.
Also, what model or size generator are you planning to carry? Knowing its dimensions and weight will help me narrow down the best options.

Hi Christopher and Jackie, I wanted to chime in because I bought this same tray for a similar setup in my F-150 for my Honda 2200 generator. The tray itself is incredibly solid and heavy-duty, and it operates very smoothly at the back of the truck bed. However, one thing to consider is the footprint; I occasionally carry an e-bike (70 lbs), and I found that this tray takes up quite a bit of space, making it difficult to load the bike easily. I wish they make tray slide out the other end(Short side). I ended up removing the tray and going back to securing the generator with straps. This nice tray waiting in my garage for next mission. I hope this helps you decide if it’s the right fit for your specific storage needs!

Hi Chris, Thanks for responding. I have a 2026 F250 and I have a tennau cover on the bed of the truck. I'm hauling around a jackery 2000 plus solar generator and want to keep it in the truck during camping season and I'm having a dc -dc charger installed in the truck so it will charge the generator when I'm driving. The generator is 18" x 15" and only weighs about 60 lbs. I was thinking slide so I can easily pull it out and plug in various charging connectors and look at the charge level easily without having to climb into the truck and I could secure it easily. Thanks, Jackie
