Question:
Hello, We have a 2012 Thor Daybreak 34BD that has the Jenson VR209TP camera system. The system we have is monochrome and we would like to upgrade to a color system. Our current set up has 3 cameras, one backup camera and the side view cameras automatically turn on when using turn signals. Do you have a replacement system that would accomodate this setup?

Hello Michelle,
Thanks for writing in, great question!
Yes, you can upgrade your older Jensen VR209TP to a color system. I know you were looking at the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-062710, which is a 4-camera system, but I recommend taking a look at the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-770616-2133-NM instead. This gives you the 3-camera setup you already have with one rear camera and two side cameras, along with a 7" color monitor.
The side cameras can be tied into the turn signal circuits on your Thor, so when you turn on the left or right blinker, the monitor will automatically switch to the corresponding side camera. You can also use the rear camera for observation while you are driving, so you will be able to keep the same basic functionality you have now while upgrading to color.
This will not be a direct plug-and-play replacement for your older Jensen system, so you will want to plan on replacing the cameras, monitor, and wiring. When running the new camera cables, you may be able to securely attach the new cable to the old one and use the old cable to help pull it through the motorhome. Just make sure the old cable moves freely before doing this since it may be secured somewhere inside the coach.
Are you getting the Daybreak ready for an upcoming adventure, or are you just ready for a much-needed camera upgrade?
