Hello Will the rack valet work on Thule revert for storage and does it come with wheels locking mechanism thank you appreciate your reply .

Hey Warren!

Yes, the Hollywood Racks Rack Valet Rolling Storage Cart # HRRV-1 will work for storing either the Thule ReVert Vertical Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # TH73VA or the 6-Bike ReVert # TH83VA. The Rack Valet has a 2" receiver, so you can slide the ReVert's shank directly into it just like you would your vehicle's hitch.

This is a really handy way to store a larger rack like the ReVert because you don't have to leave it lying on the garage floor, and the casters make it much easier to move the rack around once it's off your vehicle.

The Rack Valet does have locking casters, so once you have the rack positioned where you want it, you can lock the wheels to help keep the cart from rolling around.

With the size and weight of the ReVert, I would still recommend keeping the Rack Valet on a level garage or shop floor when it's being stored.

Are you planning to leave the ReVert fully assembled on the Rack Valet between trips?

The Hollywood Racks Rack Valet Rolling Storage Cart works great with my Thule Verse 2 bike rack and should work fine with the other Thule racks. However, when assembling the storage cart, you'll want to spin the main part with the receivers 180 degrees, so the angled ends face outward and the square ends face inward. This is backwards from the assembly directions, but this will allow the bike rack to be inserted and allow the retention pin to reach the hole on the side of the storage cart receiver. Doing so will keep the bike rack connected to the storage cart when moving it around. Now you can easily roll the bike rack to your vehicle for quick mounting or removal.

@TracyS That's great advice! I've never heard of that being an issue, so I'm glad you brought it up. Did you have to learn the hard way or did you make the change before any issues?

When I purchased the storage cart, another customer had mentioned the need to reverse the main component, so the Thule bike racks would mount the cart properly. So, I did have a little advance notice but it's pretty obvious once you mount the bike rack on the storage cart. It will only work when the main receiver part is reversed on the storage cart.

@TracyS I'm seeing that it's a problem specifically with some Thule racks, so that does make sense now. I was told that the issue comes from the clearance on the bike rack's shank but it otherwise is unaffected. How hard would you say the reversal was for your installation process?

Velocirax makes similar version that also allows bikes to be stored on the vertical rack. Would it be okay to store a couple of bikes on a Thule revert 4 bike rack while it is in the rolling stand?

@Dimi That would really just depend on the specifications of the stand. The weight of the bikes, the weight of the rack, and the center of gravity of the whole setup is greatly going to affect how the weight sits on the stand. For the Hollywood Racks Rack Valet Rolling Storage Cart # HRRV-1, I'd say no because the racks legs and wheels are shorter and meant to work for the bike rack in the folded position, though there is a customer photo on the product page where you can see it has worked before. I linked that below. I looked up the Velocirax Bike Rack Floor Stand and that one is made to specifically hold a bike rack with bikes mounted, as indicated by the long legs and product photos on their website. If you want a storage option that will also house your bikes, that's definitely the right way to go.
