Will Switching to the B&W 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box Void My Trailer's Warranty?

Updated 09/09/2026 | Published 09/05/2026

Question:

I have a Lippert 1621 pin box on a 2024 Keystone Cougar 320RDS fifth wheel. Would I have any warranty or frame issues if I replaced it with a BW RVGN3153? Thank you

Hi Chris,

The B&W 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert 1621/1621HD - 25K GTW Part # BW73RV is the perfect adapter to replace your Lippert 1621. The GVWR of your trailer is 13,750lbs, which puts your pin weight at 3,025lbs and is perfectly within the adapters pin weight range.

As far as the warranty goes, technically, installing this pin box will not legally void your entire Keystone or Lippert frame warranty automatically. According to B&W, it should not void a trailer’s frame warranty because it is designed to mitigate the harsh leverage of traditional, rigid gooseneck adapters.

But Lippert reserves the right to deny specific frame-related claims for trailers using gooseneck conversions. Since the B&W adapter is designed to reduce stress on the frame and I haven't heard any feedback about damage to the frame after switching, I don't think it's a concern.

Why are you wanting to switch pin boxes? More space in the truck bed? Or a better ride quality?
