2-1/2" Shank for Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar

Updated 09/10/2026 | Published 09/04/2026

Question:

Hi, we got a new Blue Ox AVAIL at the FRVA show in Perry this past March. It had a 2inch hitch for our Tiffin Wayfarer. But we just bought a GD Lineage 31ZW with a 2 1/2inch Gen-Y hitch. I did order a sleeve as a quick fixfoot but its not really what I want to do as a permanent solution. And I dont want to buy a new Blue Ox LOL. I was looking at BLU73CR to accommodate the 2 1/2inch hitch requirement in a permanent manner. Can you confirm that I would remove the equivalent section of my Blue Ox Avail that has the 2inch hitch, and replace it with BLU73CR? Thus our Blue Ox Avail becomes a 2 1/2inch hitch? Thanks for clarifying!

Hey Stu!

You're spot on! The Short Towbar Hitch Connector # BLU73CR is the correct part you need. It will change the original 2" shank on your Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX7420 to a 2-1/2" shank and allow you to insert directly into your Grand Design Lineage 31ZW's hitch receiver. The BLU73CR will reuse the original bolt installed on the tow bar, but provides you with a new nut, pin and clip, & spacers.

I really like the look of the Grand Design Lineage! What trips do you have planned with your rig?

We are on our maiden trip now, after having a Tiffin Wayfarer for 6 years (great rig!). Headed to Lake George, NY for the balloon festival! Next year eastern canada. And Alaska in 2028. Lot's of shorter trips in between! We love the Lineage 31ZW layout.
