Hi Danny,

To determine what pin box adapter you can use, we'll need to know what pin box came on it from the factory. The Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter part # GY33GR you were looking at is for the Lippert Rhino pin box.

If you have the Lippert Rhino, then you'll need the Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter part # GY33GR. It's the same 24K towing capacity and can handle pin weights up to 4,500lbs. The official formula Gen-Y uses to determine pin weight is GVWR x 0.22; if I do that equation with your trailer's GVWR, 15,500lbs x 0.22 you get 3,410lbs of pin weight. This is perfectly in the middle ranges of the adapter, which is what we like to see to ensure its performing its best.

Do you know what pin box was originally on your Forest River? If you're unsure, you can always call the manufacturer with your VIN and they can tell you what was originally installed on the trailer.

I like it. I actually reached out to lippert and I’m waiting for their reply. I did find the frame information tag and sent it to them. Thanks again.

@DannyC Perfect! They should be able to tell you exactly what you have. If it is something different than the Rhino, you can filter by pin box on the website, so it'll show you the Gen-Ys that match it.

Danny, I had one for about two years on my 30 foot reflection fifth wheel and we sold it and bought a 35 foot Brinkley and I put one on it. We really like it have had no issues, no chucking, just a smooth ride.

@JohnH That’s great to hear! Sounds like it worked so well on the Reflection that putting one on the Brinkley was an easy decision. Glad you’re still getting a nice smooth ride with no chucking. Thanks for sharing!
