Question:
Is it possible to buy this lock post hardware to make a non-locking base Y56AV lockable along with buying Y49KR and a lock core of course without having to buy an entire locking base Y36AV?

Hi Dan,
You can swap out the Yakima Non-Locking Base for OverHaul part # Y56AV for a locking version, but it's not possible to make it lockable because it doesn't have the internal housing for a lock core. If you want to have a locking base, you will have to purchase the entire Replacement Locking Base for Yakima OverHaul part # Y36AV. If you do decide to replace it with a locking assembly and already have a key for a Yakima lock, we have lock cores available that we can match to that key so you can replace the one that comes from the factory and be able to use the same key for all the locks.
Are you wanting to add locking housings to your Yakima ladder rack as well?
