Can One Person Install The Camco UltraGuard Truck Camper Cover?

Question:

for something like this - can it be installed by 1, agile, person? how does the portion over the front/cab area of the truck camper get put on? Is it like putting on a sock or does it hang down and strap from underside into place?

Thanks for writing in!

Yes, one agile person can install the Camco UltraGuard Slide-In Camper Cover # CAM45771. Having a second person will make the job easier because of the size of the cover, but two people are not required.

Your sock comparison is actually a good way to think about it. The cover is made to go over the entire camper, including the cabover portion. You will get the cover up onto the roof, position it, and then work it down over the front cabover and the rest of the camper. The cabover does not have a separate piece that hangs underneath and straps into place. Once the cover is pulled down and positioned, the built-in adjustable straps are used to snug everything up and keep the cover from billowing in the wind.

So if you are comfortable getting the cover up onto the camper and working around the height of it safely, this is something you can put on by yourself. I would just take your time working it down a little at a time so you aren't fighting all of the material at once.

Where are you headed with the camper before you tuck it in for the winter?
