Can a TeraPump Be Used With a 5-Gallon Water Jug?

Updated 08/27/2026 | Published 08/19/2026

Question:

Will the Terapump TE98VR or TE94VR fit into any standard 5 gallon water jugs. Will I be able to remove the end of the nozzle that goes into the fuel tank and replace it with a kitchen or shower hose.

Hey Loretta, thanks for reaching out. Both the TeraPump # TE98VR and # TE94VR can work with 5-gallon water containers, but I would not say they fit every standard 5-gallon water jug since the neck/opening sizes vary.

The # TE98VR has a 1-3/16" diameter telescoping intake tube that extends from 15" to 20", while the # TE94VR has a 1-3/16" wide, 17-5/8" long intake. As long as your jug opening is large enough for that intake tube, either pump can draw water from it. Both pumps are rated for non-potable water only, so I do not recommend either one for drinking or cooking water.

For the discharge side, I would not plan on removing the factory nozzle and directly attaching a standard kitchen or shower hose. These pumps do not use the standard 1/2" threaded connection found on most shower hoses. The better option is the # TE94VR, since it already includes a showerhead-style attachment that slides directly over the end of its discharge nozzle.

Where will you use it? Sink, shower, or filling containers?
