It sounds like your 1986 Nissan Pickup was built in the first half of that model year life cycle. The harness for the 1986 , # C55353 has a converter and is for 1986.5 mid-year models. If your truck does not have separate turn signals and brake lights then this harness will work.
You would have to hardware in harness # 18252. I have linked a video that shows how you will need to test the wires, either at that round plug you mentioned or behind each tail light to wire in the harness. This harness is for vehicles that have combined brake lights and turn signal circuits. A plug in type of harness is not available for the 1985 and first half 1986 models.
