Will a B&W 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box Work With a Recessed CM Hauler Bed?

Updated 08/17/2026 | Published 08/11/2026

Question:

Hello. I am considering buying a BandW fifth wheel to gooseneck adapter rvgn3163. I have a cm hauler bed part number ER-01844242 that has the lowered gooseneck channel in tbt middle. Will the BandW work with this bed? I just want Y make sure theres enough clearance. Maybe a Gen Y would be better? Just looking for your opinion. Thank you.

Hello Sean,

Thanks for writing in!

I really like the direction you're going with the B&W 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box. B&W teamed up with SumoSprings for the cushioning system in these, and this thing is the BOSS when it comes to gooseneck conversions. The dual-axis cushioning helps absorb both up-and-down and front-to-back movement, the SumoSprings are maintenance-free, and the large funnel around the coupler makes lining up with your gooseneck ball easier. Plus, it's made right here in the USA!

Before I tell you which one to order, I want to make sure we get the correct fit for your fifth wheel. The # BW73RV fits Lippert 1621/1621HD and other compatible bolt patterns, but the ER-01844242 number from your CM hauler bed doesn't tell me which pin box you have.

If you can send me a picture of the sticker on your current pin box showing the serial and RPO number by responding directly to the email you receive, I can send that over to Lippert and get your pin box number. If you can also include a couple pictures of the recessed gooseneck area on your CM bed, I'll be happy to take a look at the clearance too. Then we can make sure the B&W is the right choice or see if a Gen-Y would be better for your particular setup.

What fifth wheel are you towing, and do you have any big trips planned once you get everything converted over?
