Can Grade 8 Bolts be Used to Install MORryde Cushioned Pin Box

Updated 08/05/2026 | Published 08/02/2026

Question:

Last year I purchased a morryde pin box. The pin box on my 5th wheel is a 1621. When I installed it I used grade 8 bolts torque to 170 foot lbs. I was wondering if I should have used grade 5 bolts like what was on the original pin box. Any assistance on this will be appreciated.

Hey Randy, Grade 8 bolts are actually stronger than Grade 5 so what you went with to install your MORryde pin box # MR74VR is perfectly fine. Your torque rating is good too. How are you liking the MORryde so far?
