You sure can Janet! To add a hitch to your 2026 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid, I recommend our etrailer item # e55XV. This custom fit class III hitch has a 2" receiver and a maximum tongue weight of 525 lbs. That'll give you plenty of capacity for your mobility scooter and the carrier itself.

I really like our etrailer item # e55XV hitch because the main crosstube installs entirely behind your rear bumper. This leaves only the 2" receiver exposed, which not only looks better but helps with ground clearance. Plus the matte finish really hides the hitch beneath the trim. The powder coated matte finish stands up better against scratches and rust as well when compared to the glossy ones.

Do you already have a scooter carrier?

If not, I recommend the Erickson Aluminum Mobility / Cargo Carrier item # EM34JV. It's got interior dimensions of 50" long x 30-1/4" wide so it's got plenty of room for your scooter. The ramp is 47" long by 30" wide, which is going to give you an extremely easy angle to get your scooter on and off the carrier. When attached to the etrailer item # e55XV hitch the base of the carrier is only 15" above the ground. This carrier has a 400 lbs capacity and weighs only 62 lbs.
