Do I Need Spacers with SumoSprings on a Lifted 2007 Toyota Tacoma?

Have a 2007 Tacoma with a 2 and a half lift. Adding a camper topper would I need to add a spacer to compensate for the lift?

Great question! With a 2-1/2 inch lift, there's a good chance you may need to use the included spacers, but it really depends on the distance between the frame and the axle on your truck. The nice thing is that the SumoSprings Solo Helper Springs, Part # SS58HR, include two spacers, giving you a total spring height of 7 inches when both spacers are installed.

Before ordering, I'd recommend measuring from the mounting surface where the SumoSpring bolts to the frame down to the axle contact pad where the spring will rest. Then subtract 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch from that measurement, since SumoSprings are designed to have a small gap when the truck is unloaded. For example, if that distance measures 7-1/2 inches, the 7 inch spring with both spacers installed would give you the ideal 1/2 inch gap. If your measurement is smaller, you may only need one spacer or none at all.

Once you add your camper topper, the SumoSprings will engage sooner and help support the extra weight without making the unloaded ride overly stiff. Is the topper the only thing you'll be carrying, or do you also plan on hauling gear in the bed regularly?
