5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit for a 2014 Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed

Question:

I have a 2014 dodge 1500 with a 5and1/2 bed. i currently have a Pro Series sliding 5th wheel with the base rails. Do you sell a mounting kit with brackets that wont require drilling or welding the frame?

All of the 5th wheel trailer hitch installation kits for your 2014 Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 foot bed will require some frame drilling. You can use # RP30035-386 for your truck. I have linked the instructions to the right for you.

You mentioned having a slider hitch but a slider will not allow you to make 90 degree turns without hitting the truck cab and trailer together. Also, you will not be able to slide the hitch back with the trailer connected without removing the tailgate. You will have to keep the hitch in the towing position and then use a Sidewinder replacement pin box on the trailer.

The Sidewinder moves the pivot point back of the trailer back 22 inches. But to determine if there is a Sidewinder that will fit your trailer you will need the manufacturer and model number off of the plate or sticker on the pin box. Then you can use the help article I have linked, and the chart in it to determine if there is a Sidewinder that will fit your trailer.
