Hi David!
The Invision 8 cubic foot refrigerator, part # NV94FR, requires a cabinet opening that's at least 56.1 inches tall, 23.3 inches wide, and 21.1 inches deep. The refrigerator itself measures 55.5 inches tall, 21.9 inches wide, and 22.8 inches deep, so the slightly larger opening gives you the room needed to slide the refrigerator into place and secure it to the surrounding cabinetry.
For ventilation, Invision recommends leaving a minimum of 1 inch of open space above the refrigerator, on both sides, and behind it. Since this is a 12 volt compressor refrigerator, it doesn't need the large exterior roof and sidewall vents that older absorption refrigerators require. That 1 inch of clearance is there to help the compressor dissipate heat and keep the refrigerator running efficiently. It's also important that the back of the refrigerator, especially the electrical components and cooling system, doesn't come into contact with the surrounding cabinetry or other objects.
If you're replacing an existing refrigerator, I'd be happy to help you compare your current cabinet opening to these dimensions to make sure the NV94FR will be a good fit. What refrigerator are you replacing?
