On-Board Air Compressor for Inflating Tires

Updated 07/08/2026 | Published 06/30/2026

Question:

Hello. I have a 2024 ram 2500 4x4 with the coil springs. I’m looking to get the airlift load lifter 7500xl. I would like to do onboard air with it as well. My question is I would like to have it setup so that I can be able to pump up tires as well, which of the onboard air setups would you recommend. I would like something with a high pressure duty cycle. Thanks!

Hey Steve!

The Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Ultimate Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL57589 will be the perfect air bag kit for your 2024 Ram 2500 with 4WD! This kit is rated for 7,500 lbs. and will be a direct fit for your truck. Typically these kits are used for trucks with a consistent heavy load. If you only have occasional need for air bags, a 5,000 lbs. kit may be a better option for you.

To inflate the air bags, you can use Firestone Air Command Heavy Duty Air Compressor with Tank - Analog - Dual Path # F2168. This kit will allow you to inflate both the bags and the tires on your vehicle. This is a heavy-duty compressor, so it'll inflate up to 150 PSI, which far exceeds most air bag and tire pressure ranges. This kit is also setup for a dual path, meaning you can inflate the air bags individually if you have an uneven load.

What are you planning on towing with your truck? Is it going to be a constant load or varying loads? Are you needing to inflate your tires regularly or is it a "just-in-case" type of setup?

Hi Jerry! I appreciate the fast response. I typically tow a 30’ flatbed gooseneck loaded down with my mud truck and accessories. It comes in around 15000 lbs and I tow it the better part of the summer. I also tow a bumper pull with different loads on it. The air compressor is for filing up tires as needed for a multitude of vehicles and equipment. It may be used for an air jack as well. I like the looks of the compressor, is there a wireless option out there you would recommend? I would like to keep the cab as clean looking as possible. Thanks!

@SteveH Nice, sounds like you're really using that 2500 the way it's intended to be used! There aren't wireless options for a heavy-duty compressor that can fill tires. I think the # F2168 is going to be your best option at the moment.
