Which Portable Generator Is Best For Camper With 30A Hookup ?

Published 06/17/2026

Question:

I have a 30 amp camper and want a generator I can plug the RV cord into. Should I be looking at the 2200-watt Flex Power or the 3300-watt one?

Good morning Dennis! You can technically use either one with your camper as long as you have the right adapter, but the Flex Power 3,300-Watt Portable Inverter Generator # FP54FR is the more RV-friendly choice.

The smaller Flex Power 2,200-Watt # FP34FR can connect to an RV inlet with an extension cord and the correct RV adapter like # CAM55223 or # A10-1530DBK, but it is still limited to 1,900 running watts. That makes it better for lighter loads like battery charging, lights, TVs, small electronics, and maybe one smaller appliance at a time.

The # FP54FR gives you more room to work with at 3,300 starting watts and 2,700 running watts, and it already has the 30 amp RV-ready outlet built in. That means fewer adapters and a cleaner hookup for a 30 amp camper. You’ll still want to manage high-draw items like the A/C, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, or hair dryer, but for plugging into a 30 amp RV, Dennis, the # FP54FR is the one I’d start with. What are you hoping to run most often when you’re off-grid?
