Will the Replacement Knob Handles # PF6-R40-9HC Fit Phoenix PF284012 Stems?

Updated 06/10/2026 | Published 06/09/2026

Question:

Hello, I currently am trying to fix an older shower that uses the Phoenix PF284012 stems, and I was wondering if these handles would be compatible with those. The handles that are currently on them are not really made for them and have worn them down hence the replacement. I just want to make sure they work with those stems, or if you can tell me which do. Thanks.

Hello Rilee,

Thanks for writing in, I'm glad you found us.

Yes, the Replacement Knob Handle Set # PF6-R40-9HC is designed to work with Phoenix Catalina dual-handle faucets and is compatible with the Phoenix replacement stems # PF284012.

Since your current handles have worn down the stems, I'd take a close look at the splines on the stems before installing the new handles. If the splines on the # PF284012 stems still have a well-defined shape and aren't excessively rounded off, the new handles should fit and operate properly. However, if the stem splines have also been worn down by the previous handles, you may want to replace the stems at the same time to ensure a secure fit and smooth operation. I attached an image of the splines, so you can compare them to yours to determine if you need new ones or not.

When installing the new handles, make sure they seat fully onto the stem splines before tightening the mounting screws. This will help prevent premature wear and keep the handles from slipping over time.

Getting things all geared up for the next adventure? What trip are you looking most forward to this summer?
