Installing Air Bags on a GMC Sierra 3500 with a Lance 850 Camper

Updated 05/13/2026 | Published 05/12/2026

Question:

Any issues with installing the kit with a slide in camper in the bed that weights approximately 2600 lbs dry? Would like to not unload the camper if possible to install the kit. My vehicle is a 2023 GMC Sierra 350 with a Lance 850 camper Thanks, Bruce

Bruce, great question.

if your Lance 850 is already causing the rear of your Sierra to sag, I do recommend unloading it before installing the air bag kit part # F84XV. You can technically install with the camper in place if you have enough room, but when the suspension is compressed it makes access tighter and can affect how easily and accurately the brackets line up. Taking the camper off lets the truck sit at its natural ride height, which gives you better working space and helps ensure everything installs cleanly the first time so you are not fighting it or having to redo anything later.

The Firestone Ride-Rite kit with compressor, part # F84XV, is still a great match for your setup and will help bring the truck back to level and improve stability once everything is installed. The onboard compressor and in cab control make it easy to fine tune your air pressure depending on how the camper is loaded, which is a big benefit for a setup like yours. As long as your fully loaded camper weight stays within the system’s 5,000 lb capacity, it is a very solid solution.

Are you trying to fix rear sag from the camper?
