Does Something Need to Be Put Between Hitch and Vehicle Frame

Question:
I have a used trailer hitch in great condition. Going on a 1990 Jeep XJ Cherokee. Do you have a recommendation what to put between the vehicle frame and hitch to keep water out for rust prevention? Or just paint and bolt on? Thank You.

Hey Ken, great question but I would just make sure the paint on the hitch is in decent shape and just bolt it up! If there are chips or exposed metal I would spray them with black spray paint to cover them.

You could do a coat of Rust Bullet. It will inhibit rust, and also stops it dead in his tracks better than Rust-Oleum.

Thank you. Just concerned about water getting trapped and rusting the metal. Ken
