AC Unit Complete Kit With Heat Strip For Chilly Mornings - RV With Ducted AC Vents In Ceiling

Question:

We camp a lot in the spring and fall, and I’d like a recommendation. We do have a ducted setup now, and I’m fine replacing the whole thing if that’s the cleanest route. What would you recommend if I want good cooling in summer but also a little electric heat for chilly mornings? I don't use furnace but sometimes need heater.

Hey Cheryl, if you want a comfort-minded setup, I’d recommend either the Coleman-Mach Signature Mach 15 # CM52RR or the Signature Mach 3 # CM83RR, depending on the size of your RV and how hard your current AC has to work in summer. Then I’d pair it with the optional heat strip # CM96RR.

That gives you a complete ducted AC replacement for summer, plus a little electric heat to take the chill off on cool mornings. I just wouldn’t treat the heat strip like a furnace replacement. It’s more of a nice shoulder-season bonus.

And just to be sure, these are for ducted RV systems only. If your AC feeds air through ceiling vents around the RV, you’re in the right place. Cheryl, if you want, tell me what RV you have and whether your current setup cools evenly now, and I can help you decide between the Mach 3 and Mach 15.

Also, it's good that you're wanting a complete system because due to the new refrigerant being uses, parts aren't backward compatible anymore.
