I’m building a large off-grid system and considering the VN95VR. What makes a 48V system better for something like this? going in big diy camper van

Hey Brandon, this is exactly where a 48V system like the 4,000w Victron inverter/charger # VN95VR shines.

Higher voltage means lower current for the same power, which gives you:
-Smaller wiring
-Less heat
-Better efficiency under load

You're not getting less usable power - just delivering the same power more efficiently when going to 48v.
For example, at full output:

12V system = very high current draw
48V system = much lower current

That makes a big difference as systems get larger or run heavier loads.
This is why 48V is typically used for:
-Large battery banks
-Solar-heavy setups
-Running multiple appliances

It does require a step down converter for your 12v loads, but 48v is much easier to scale long-term.
