Question:

I have liftmaster gas struts on my 2020 thor motor home trunk doors. on the strut it says 7675qo 0090 109/19 c 21. I am looking for direct replacement strut. Is your ATL64BR a good replacement?

Hi Tyler, great question!

You’re definitely on the right track here, and I’m glad you included those numbers because they tell us a lot about what you have. The 7675QO is a Stabilus Lift-O-Mat strut, and that “0090” marking is the key piece since it indicates 90 Newtons, which is about 20 lbs of force, not 90 lbs. That puts it in the lighter-duty range, which is typical for RV compartment or trunk doors. Based on that part number, you’re also looking at roughly a 20 inch extended length, about a 12 inch compressed length, a 6 mm rod, 15 mm tube, and usually 10 mm ball socket ends.

Because of that, the part # ATL64BR wouldn’t be a good direct replacement. It’s rated around 75 to 85 lbs, which is quite a bit stronger than your original strut. In real use, that would likely cause the door to open too aggressively and could put extra stress on the hinges or mounting points over time, so it wouldn’t behave the same as what you have now.

We currently do not carry the direct replacement but a much better match is the Gas Shock part # 372-5300-20. It’s rated at 20 lbs of force and has a 20 inch extended length, which lines up well with your original strut so the door will open and hold the way it was designed to. The compressed length on this one is slightly shorter than your original, and since the difference is small, it typically won’t affect how the door closes or operates in a normal setup.
