Question:

Im upgrading my boats rod lockers and need to purchase the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut. Do those come with the 10mm ball or do I need to buy those separate? If so, do you carry them?

I confirmed with my contact at Taylor Made that the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut for Boat Hatches - 10 mm Socket # 3691834-20 does not come with the 10mm ball. If you need just the ball, I recommend the # TM73FR. We also sell the brackets with the balls already installed with part # 3691881.

We recommend that if your boat lockers uses two lift supports, you should always replace them as a pair. Typically, if one support is losing charge from use as it ages, both supports are in a similar condition. It is also important to always install a gas support with the shaft side down. There is a small amount of oil inside every gas support so shaft-down orientation allows the oil to drain towards the shaft seal which keeps the shaft and sealing components lubricated with every stroke.
