Electric Trailer Dolly To Control Park An Airstream International 217FB Travel Trailer In Lot

Updated 02/24/2026 | Published 02/19/2026

Question:

I have 217ft airstream international that I need to move around my lot as it’s tough to get a truck in there. Which dolly would you recommend for this? Thanks

Hey there Steven!

That's a super nice Airstream, I'm jealous haha. It looks like that 217fb model is about 6,000-7,000lbs depending on cargo. I would go with the Parkit360 Force Electric Trailer Dolly # PA46VR which is rated for 10,000lbs max, which is way more than what you will get to when fully loaded. It's also half the price compared to the one you were looking at before.

It comes with 2" and 2-5/16" balls so you won't have to worry about trying to buy anything else for it. The trailer's 7 way plug just connects directly to the 7 way outlet on the dolly and you're good to go. I've personally used this exact model here at etrailer in our demo area, and it was really nice and easy to use; super good quality too and not real noisy at all.

This electric dolly doesn't work with underslung couplers or electric-over-hydraulic brakes, but yours didn't come with those from the factory so you'll be fine. I just like to mention in case someone did any custom work to it :).

Let me know what you think! I believe you'd be very happy with this unit.

I think when you take into account, the tongue weight of another 800 pounds or so you’re getting awfully close to the 10,000 pound limit and I was afraid that it would then be difficult to steer especially on a hard dirt compacted area. What do you think about that?

@StevenG I'd find a way to measure your tongue weight if you think it's that much. The limit on this machine is 900lbs, and normally I wouldn't think a 6,500lbs trailer plus a little more cargo (propane, battery etc.) on the tongue would make it out to be 900lbs. But to be sure you could find a scale or use something like the # BTBRV004. Long as you're under 900 lbs of tongue weight, you won't have an issue steering it around.

Andrew, I am certain the tongue weight is under 900lbs. If I were to have an issue, ie the wheel digging into the ground, would I be able to exchange this unit for the remote control unit with a higher weight rating with no restocking or exchange fee?

@Steven Ok I gotcha. In that case I imagine you'd be responsible for shipping it back if you try to return within the return window but nothing is actually wrong with the unit. Now if the unit were to be defective, that would be a different scenario and you wouldn't pay shipping back. If you don't mind spending extra to make sure you have the best traction possible, the # PA76VR is the superior unit by far since it has 6 wheel drive and remote control.
