Updated 02/14/2026 | Published 02/12/2026 >
Question:
Would this work on a gas strut with 5mmx0.8 threads on the ends? Also, what size ball would this fit? Thank you!

Hey Paula, the Leer struts like the part # LE52GR that you referenced are M6 x1.0 and we do not have an M5 option like you mentioned. What is the application though? Maybe there's a better place to check with.

It needs to removable because the strut serves as a temporary lift assist on the table of my Shopsmith when lifted upright to the driling mode. The strut I described to you is about 20 inches long and rated for 45 lbs. The ball on the mount appears to be ~9.75mm in diameter. My problem is that the spring loaded ends on the strut are just too stiff for my aging hands. Would you have something that would fit the bill and be easier for me to attach and remove?
