Best Trailer Hitch For Using Bruno Lift On 2026 Volvo XC90
Updated 02/18/2026 | Published 02/11/2026 >
Question:
I need to install a bruno scooter lift that swings away 180lbs but has an electric lift that lifts the car a few inches to make the loading floor flat as placing a victory 10 scooter on said lift making the tongue weight around 400 pounds. Just curious will the stealth hitch or a more traditional hitch be better for the upward torque as when you place the loading load floor on the ground before loading the schooter.

Hey Mark, good question. For that setup, I would definitely lean toward a more traditional, fully welded receiver hitch. They typically have a stronger one piece design and higher tongue weight ratings, which is important when you are dealing with around 400 lbs plus the added upward torque from the lift while it is raising the vehicle.
Stealth style hitches are excellent for keeping things hidden and handling normal downward tongue weight, but they are not really designed with that kind of upward load in mind. In your case, a standard receiver hitch is going to give you better strength and peace of mind during loading and unloading.
That said, here is what I recommend:
- Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # 76194
This has a 1-piece design and 900 lb tongue weight rating, so it'll be plenty strong for a Bruno lift setup. It also has a hidden crosstube design, so most of the hitch is hidden behind the bumper. All you see is the 2" receiver.

Mark, I just installed the drawtight hitch receiver mark recommended on my XC 60 and am very happy with how it was constructed. The receiver is the only visible part on the product and is well recessed so that it does not impact the foot sensor operation for hands free hatch opening, nor will it hit you in the shin if walking around the car. If you plan to install it yourself it took my daughter and I about 35minutes and the videos for that are the best In the industry. They have great technicians to do that also…. I hope my experience can help with your decision. I do agree with Mark that with that weight you want a rigid mount. James
