Question:

Hi, I have a powerwinch RC30 on my boat trailer. The wiring is 10 gauge one hot/one ground with a 60 amp breaker mounted at the battery. The plastic 2 pole OEM socket I mounted deteriorated within two years. The socket became totally fried due to not having a rubber boot Powerwinch doesnt make one for this socket. I want to run either the same gauge wire or an 8 gauge wire to a well made 2 pole male/female adapter. I believe that the PK12800 female and the PK12801 male connectors are made for each other. If this is correct, would these two connectors be good for my application? I want to mount the male socket onto my trucks hitch frame, therefore would you have a mounting bracket for the PK12801? I live in Michigan with salt being a big issue. Would you recommend something different? If so, please advise me of what your recommendations would be. As always, I sincerely appreciate all your help.

The Pollak 2-Pole Trailer Side Connector, # PK12800, and the Pollak 2-Pole Vehicle Side Connector, # PK12801, are made for each other and they would be excellent connectors for your Powerwinch RC30 trailer winch. If it is possible, I would recommend running 8 gauge wire because it will provide less resistance on the circuit and electric winches typically require thicker gauge wire.

These are zinc die-cast connectors that are very durable. They are commonly used in heavy-duty applications and have a current rating of 200 amps which is more than enough for your winch. These connectors would be my recommendation for you.
