Best Portable Jump Box For Fleet Of Box Trucks And Busses That Need Jump Started + Charged In Winter
Published 01/28/2026 >
Question:
Hi! I maintain a small fleet of 5 box trucks and one shuttle bus. We jump vehicles pretty regularly through the winter since some of them sit a few days without power to charge them up and maintain the batteries. What should I be looking at as a solution?

Hey Aaron! Thanks for laying that out - it sounds like you’d really benefit from having a heavy-duty portable jump box that can live with the fleet of vehicles in case the batteries ever go dead.
In your case, something like the Projecta Intelli-Start 3,000A # VX55NR makes a lot of sense. It’s designed for regular fleet use and can handle up to 12-liter gas and diesel engines on 12V systems, as well as all standard 24V gas and diesel vehicles and RVs, which covers box trucks and shuttle buses nicely. When a battery is run down, you can use the manual override mode to apply high amperage charge long enough to actually bring the battery back, then jump start the vehicle. Most jump packs don't have this charge feature.
Once the engine fires, the big advantage is that the jump box recharges itself from the vehicle’s alternator - often in as little as 40 seconds - so it stays ready without needing to be taken inside, plugged in, or misplaced between uses. That’s a huge plus for winter fleet situations like yours.
What size engines are you running in the trucks and bus, and are they mostly 12V or 24V systems?
